Homework for week 1

Apparently, I have to use this for homework. So, instead of learning about the amazing and exciting adventures of yours truly, you will have to be subjected instead to something slightly more boring: English. The topic being discussed is my idea of the use of technology in education.

Personally, I think it is about time that education has begun to catch up with technology. In his books, "Digital Convergence" and "Digital Convergence 2", Andy Covell discusses the uses of technology and how they interact together. By combining technology so much more potential can be realized. this is the same for education and technology. Education can be greatly inhanced by technology. From simple things like e-mail and research online, to classroom study and chatting with teachers and other students, the speed, effectiveness, and comprehensivity of education can be greatly increased. However, somethings have a long way to go and probably will never be great hits. A good example of this is educational gaming. As I see it, gaming will never be able to combine the elements necessary to make a great game with good educational value. I do not forsee a huge hit to the likes WoW (World of Warcraft), being an educational game.

Technology, however, will never wait for education to catch up, education will have to hurry to catch up, or be left behind.
